FORMULA E has revealed a significant shift in its broadcasting approach, returning to free-to-air television.
The motorsport series was formerly broadcast on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5, before it was effectively placed behind a paywall with TNT Sports, marking a first in its ten-year history.
It has been officially stated that the series will be returning to ITV for the 2024/25 season, featuring live broadcasts and highlights accessible via the ITVX app and ITV4.
The season is set to kick off in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on December 7.
Formula E Chief Media Officer Aarti Dabas shared, “We’re excited to provide fans in the UK and Ireland with enhanced access to our thrilling championship through our esteemed media partners – TNT Sports and now ITV – offering multiple ways to engage with the sport.”
“Our new highlights show airing post-race weekend on ITV will feature exclusive content straight from the paddock, enriching the experience for both new and longtime fans.
“We are eager to deliver even more on-track excitement and expand the sport’s fanbase.”
The broadcasting change will also introduce a new presenting team, with former BBC host Jermaine Jenas stepping away from the all-electric racing series.
Innovative presenter Nicki Shields is set to return, making history as the first female lead in the series.
Since her debut in 2014, she has become an integral figure on and off the track, and notably served as the first female lead commentator for the F1 Academy during its recent launch.

Reflecting on her new position, Shields stated: “I vividly remember my first Formula E race in Beijing back in 2014, and my passion for this sport remains as intense as ever, even after a decade.
“I’m thrilled to return as the lead presenter for Season 11. It’s a tremendous honor to share the thrill and excitement of this amazing sport with fans globally.

“Alongside our talented presenting team, we are committed to bringing audiences closer to the action than ever before. Bring on São Paulo!”
Shields will be joined by racing drivers Billy Monger and Catie Munnings, along with sports commentator Tom Brooks.
Throughout the season, pundits will include David Coulthard, Karun Chandhok, Andre Lotterer, James Rossiter, and Alan McNish.
Saunders Carmichael-Brown and Alexa Rendell will continue their roles as pitlane reporters.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds acknowledged prior to the London season finale that the switch to pay-per-view had resulted in viewing figures “not meeting our expectations.”
Pascal Wehrlein was crowned the champion last season, narrowly defeating Mitch Evans by just six points.
