Boxing star Curmel Moton had to cancel his bout with Bryan Mercado due to a SIGNIFICANT weight issue on Friday.
Trained by the iconic boxer Floyd Mayweather, Moton shocked everyone by weighing in an incredible 15 POUNDS over the limit.
At just 18 years old, Moton holds an impressive 6-0 record since making his professional debut last September on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo, but failed to extend that streak this weekend.
The rising star from Utah was set to battle Mercado at 133 pounds in New Jersey but weighed in at a shocking 148.7 pounds.
This substantial weight miss caused gasps of disbelief at the weigh-in, marking it as one of the most significant weight discrepancies in boxing history.
As a result, Moton was removed from the fight card due to the crucial weight difference.
Social media was quick to poke fun at the young boxer for his significant weight miss, humorously suggesting it was linked to an overindulgent Thanksgiving celebration.
One social media user commented, “Wow, he must have had the ultimate Thanksgiving feast.”
Another remarked, “It looked like he didn’t even attempt to make weight.”
A third joked, “His toughest rival was cookies.”

After the weigh-in incident, Moton explained the situation, stating there were complications with his bloodwork that prevented him from fighting.
On Instagram, he expressed, “I want to apologize to all the fans who planned to attend in Jersey to watch me fight.

“I was in contact with the commission about my bloodwork clearance, but they somehow misplaced my blood sample in their system [making fight sanctioning hard].
“I had been aware of this issue for three days, so there was no reason to be stressed about making weight.
“Still, they insisted I weigh in for some unknown reason, and they used that as the justification for cancelling the fight.
“Nonetheless, I’ll be back in Japan on December 30th. I look forward to seeing everyone then.”
