Trump plans to establish more crypto-friendly regulations during his administration by appointing David Sacks to a newly created crypto position in the White House.
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump declared that venture capitalist David Sacks from Craft Ventures will take on the role of the White House’s AI and crypto czar. This position has been introduced as part of Trump’s initiative to position the U.S. as the leading hub for cryptocurrency globally.
Sacks will oversee regulations concerning artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies, while also developing legal frameworks for both sectors. He will also head the Presidential Council of Advisors for Science and Technology.
“I am excited to announce that David O. Sacks will take on the role of the “White House A.I. & Crypto Czar.” In this vital position, David will shape policy for the Administration in Artificial Intelligence and Cryptocurrency, two fields essential for the future of American competitiveness,”
Trump remarked in his Truth Social post on Dec. 06
This role is anticipated to enhance crypto representation, aligning with the president’s vision. Sacks will function as a bridge between Trump, Congress, and pertinent crypto institutions, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
David Sacks backs Trump’s campaign
According to Bloomberg, Sacks is a pivotal figure in enhancing campaign funding from the tech sector, having previously served as a venture capitalist based in San Francisco. He also maintains a close relationship with Vice President-elect JD Vance.
In his forthcoming role, Sacks is expected to collaborate closely with Elon Musk, who serves as the Director of the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E). Like Musk, Sacks will not be required to publicly disclose his assets and can serve a maximum of 130 days per year as a special government employee.
