NSFAS: Deputy Minister Buti Manamela Unveils Initiative to Motivate Applicants

Johannesburg – Buti Manamela, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, in collaboration with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), hosted an application drive at several locations throughout Johannesburg.

Taking place on Sunday, December 8, 2024, this initiative aimed to encourage prospective applicants to complete their NSFAS applications before the upcoming deadline on December 15, 2024.

The NSFAS drive represented a vital final push to engage as many eligible young individuals as possible, ensuring they seize the opportunity for financial support to further their education.

Deputy Minister Buti Manamela stated, “The goal is to enhance awareness… and I must say, the response has been overwhelming.”

He added, “At present, over 60% of applications from new students planning to enroll in the next academic year have been approved.”

Deputy Minister Manamela underscored that there should be no fees involved for NSFAS applications.

“The application process is completely free,” he emphasized.

Deputy Minister Manamela spoke to an audience at Grace Bible Church in Pimville, Soweto, where he motivated potential beneficiaries to apply for NSFAS before the December 2024 deadline.

While visiting the San Kopano Resources Centre in Alexandra, the deputy minister once again urged potential beneficiaries to ensure their NSFAS applications are submitted by the deadline.

At Diepsloot Mall in Diepsloot, the deputy minister reiterated the significance of applying for NSFAS financial aid to study at universities or TVET colleges.

Similarly, during his time at Jabulani Mall in Jabulani, Soweto, the deputy minister continued to promote the campaign, encouraging potential beneficiaries to complete their NSFAS applications before the closing date.
