
Johannesburg – A 43-year-old woman hailing from Paraguay has been detained at OR Tambo International Airport, marking the fourth arrest for drug trafficking in the past two weeks.
The suspect had just disembarked from a flight from São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, December 6, 2024, when authorities intercepted her for attempting to smuggle narcotics.
As stated by police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, “The drug mule was transported to a local medical facility where an X-ray revealed the presence of foreign objects in her stomach.”
“In total, 33 pellets containing cocaine were subsequently removed.”
“This arrest marks the fourth drug trafficker apprehended at OR Tambo International Airport in the last two weeks.”
