Durban – A woman in her seventies has sadly lost her life following a single-vehicle accident on the M13 en route to Durban, near Kings Avenue in Westville.
As per ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the incident took place on Monday morning, shortly after 09:00.
“Upon arrival, paramedics encountered chaos, as the vehicle had rolled several times and came to rest on its roof,” Jamieson noted.
“During their assessment, paramedics found that the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped in the wreckage.”
“Unfortunately, the woman, thought to be in her seventies, sustained life-threatening injuries, and despite all efforts, paramedics could not save her. She was declared dead at the scene.”
Jamieson warned that the scene was still active and would remain so for some time.
“We advise motorists to reduce their speed due to the current wet weather conditions,” he emphasized.
“It’s prudent to leave a little earlier to ensure you reach your destination safely. Additionally, make sure your vehicle’s windscreen wipers and tyres are functioning properly.”
Currently, the events leading up to the crash are unclear, but officials from the SA Police Service were on-site.
