Johannesburg – Thulani Mngomezulu, a defense attorney participating in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, has tragically passed away in the hospital.
Family spokesperson Dumisile Mngomezulu announced the heartbreaking news, saying: “It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the loss of our beloved husband, father, and son.”
“We confirm he died unexpectedly in the early morning hours of December 10, 2024, at Vosloorus’ Thelle Moroerane Hospital.”
As the murder trial was being aired live on television, Lawyer Mngomezulu became a well-known figure to many viewers.
He represented Muzikawukhulelwa “Muzi” Sibiya, who is the primary accused in the ongoing trial.
Since November 8, 2024, Mngomezulu had not appeared in court due to health concerns.
“During this time of grief, we kindly ask for your understanding, space, and time to come together as a family to make decisions for the future,” the family spokesperson stated.
“We appreciate your love and support in advance, and we ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers.”
Social media users promptly reminded their followers that trial Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng had previously suggested that the ailing lawyer Mngomezulu might be evading court appearances.
