MKP’s Year of Progress
This gala dinner is set to take place after the rally at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday, celebrating the MK Party’s notable achievements since its inception by Zuma in December 2023.
Within just one year, the party has become the third-largest in South Africa and has assumed the role of the official opposition in Parliament. Its strongest voter support originates from KwaZulu-Natal, where it garnered the majority vote in the province during the May general elections.

Shivambu elaborated on the strict measures to ensure the event is predominantly for attendees from KwaZulu-Natal. “We have organized transport for all 11 regions within KwaZulu-Natal as well as 44 municipalities,” he stated, adding that free trains will be available from kwaMashu, Cato Ridge, and uMlazi.

However, transportation will not be available for attendees from other provinces. “Those who intend to arrive at their own expense are welcome,” Shivambu noted.
Engaging the Progressive Caucus
The party has extended invitations to its associates within the parliamentary progressive caucus, including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African Transformation Movement (ATM), and African Unity Congress (AUC), enabling them to send messages of support during the event.
Shivambu emphasized the significance of the gathering, asserting, “This anniversary rally and gala dinner mark the initial step towards our enduring growth and unity.”
