Pretoria – Early this morning, the Die Poskantoor Restaurant, situated on Langenhoven Street in Constantia Park, was consumed by flames.
According to the Emergency Services Department of the City of Tshwane, they received a distress call at around 03:57 on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
The nearest fire stations, including those from Hazelwood, Erasmuskloof, and Silverton, were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Firefighting operations continued until the fire was fully extinguished at approximately 05:55.
Following the successful suppression of the blaze, firefighters confirmed that there were no injuries, and the animals at a nearby pet shop were safely protected throughout the incident.
The firefighters further ensured that the adjacent shopping center was spared from the severe heat generated by the fire.
The South African Police Service and several private security organizations were also present at the scene.
The origin of the fire is currently unknown.
