Moscow – As the festive season approaches, Moscow’s public transportation network is once again adorned with joyous decorations, lighting up the metro and tram lines across the city.
In keeping with a cherished tradition spanning more than half a century, a special New Year’s train has been launched on Line 5 of the Moscow metro.

This festive train is embellished with over 700 three-dimensional ornaments, including snowmen, Christmas trees, snowflakes, and holiday decorations, transforming each carriage into a winter wonderland.
Such decoration efforts are part of the city’s New Year celebration preparations.
Guided by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the metro system has launched specially decorated trains.
This year, a Winter-themed train featuring symbols representative of the holiday season has been introduced on the Circular Line.
“We hope it brings joy to passengers. The festive train will be operational until January 31, 2025,” stated Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Additionally, 60 Vityaz-Moscow trams have been decorated with brilliant lights and garlands to celebrate the New Year.
This represents a significant expansion, as the quantity of decorated trams has doubled compared to last year.
Deputy Mayor Liksutov noted: “New Year’s trams have become a beloved tradition in our city.
“Following Mayor Sergey Sobyanin’s directive, we are continuing to create a festive atmosphere for both residents and visitors to Moscow.”
With 60 vibrantly adorned trams, a new milestone has been achieved.

These illuminated trams are running on 28 different routes throughout the city.
Enhancing the festive spirit, eight metro station facades and Moscow Central Circle (MCC) stations in the city center have received festive decorations, with Two Hearts of the Capital installations now adorning nine station entrances.
