Johannesburg – Authorities apprehended two men at OR Tambo International Airport right after they landed in South Africa on a flight from Brazil. One suspect was discovered with 4 kg of cocaine in his baggage, while the other was identified via an X-ray revealing ingested pellets of the substance.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, the suspected drug traffickers were arrested on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk mentioned: “These Brazilian drug mules, aged 30 and 35, had just arrived from São Paulo, Brazil when they were intercepted at the airport.
“One of the suspects was found with over 4kg of cocaine in his luggage, while a medical X-ray revealed the presence of drug ‘bullets’ ingested by the other suspect.
“In total, fifteen ‘bullets’ containing cocaine have been extracted.”

The arrested suspects are expected to appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court later this week facing charges related to drug trafficking.
Alert officers at the airport have effectively captured numerous drug traffickers in recent weeks.
