
Pretoria – The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant has been temporarily shut down, leading to disruptions in water supply across several areas in Region 7, as reported by the City of Tshwane.
“The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant is offline due to a deterioration in raw water quality, which has been affected by cloudiness from recent heavy rainfall,” the City of Tshwane stated in a brief announcement on Wednesday, (18 December 2024).
“Our technicians are closely monitoring the situation, and operations will recommence as soon as the water quality returns to acceptable levels.”
The City of Tshwane has identified the following areas in Region 7 that are impacted:
- Bronkhorstspruit Town
- Ekandustria
- Ekangala
- Rethabiseng
- Riamarpark
- Zithobeni
- Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (cross-border water supply)
The City of Tshwane announced: “Water tankers will be dispatched to supply all affected areas.”
“The City of Tshwane sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.”
