
Mamelodi Sundowns has announced it is looking into allegations of misconduct concerning head coach Jerry Tshabalala from the women’s team. As the inquiry progresses, the club has placed Tshabalala on special leave.
To guarantee a comprehensive and unbiased investigation, Sundowns has engaged the law firm Bowmans to act as independent investigators.
“Mamelodi Sundowns has received allegations of inappropriate behavior made by several female players against head coach Jerry Tshabalala of its Ladies Team,” the club stated in a release on Saturday.
“Mamelodi Sundowns has tasked a well-known law firm with examining the allegations of misconduct against its Ladies Team coach, Jerry Tshabalala,” the club revealed on Saturday.
“Mamelodi Sundowns takes these allegations very seriously and has appointed Bowmans to assess the claims and report back to the Board promptly. In the meantime, Coach Jerry Tshabalala has been placed on special leave until the investigation is completed. This decision aims to uphold the integrity of the investigation while safeguarding the rights of all parties involved.
Should the investigation uncover any damning evidence, the Board will take immediate and appropriate action. Mamelodi Sundowns plans to publicly disclose the results of the investigation and any subsequent steps in due course.
This incident occurs as the Sundowns Ladies team grapples with disappointment in the Women’s CAF Champions League, despite having secured the league title this season.
