RUBEN AMORIM experienced his most challenging defeat as Man Utd manager, suffering an unexpected 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
His squad was outperformed in all aspects by Andoni Iraola’s Cherries.
Ian Whittell from SunSport has shared his player ratings for the Manchester United team…
Andre Onana – 5
Displayed signs of uncertainty with the ball, and his tendency to hold onto it too long was clear to United supporters.
It proved to be a tough outing for the goalkeeper, who had several jittery moments and needed two attempts to deal with long-range shots.
Noussair Mazraoui – 4
Showed significant annoyance over the penalty he gave away, yet finding justifications for his actions was difficult.
He was caught off guard and panicked, taking down Justin Kluivert from behind, which only compounded an already poor performance.
Harry Maguire – 4
Too often found himself trailing the play or unable to contain his rivals, with Evanilson consistently getting the better of him throughout the match.
Ruben Amorim believes Maguire fits into his three-at-the-back setup, but opinions on this remain mixed.
Lisandro Martinez – 5
Failed to react as Semenyo scored Bournemouth’s third goal, marking yet another defensive blunder for United.
Like many of his defensive teammates, he seems to be struggling with the new system and is unable to perform even basic tasks.
Diogo Dalot – 6
Made several crucial blocks and attempted to contribute to attacking plays from his wing-back position, although his impact was minimal.
On a day when United’s defense faltered again, he did not emerge as the primary culprit.
Manuel Ugarte
Received a yellow card for a cynical foul on Kluivert and often struggled to keep pace with Bournemouth’s forwards.
Much of the match slipped by him, and he was substituted before the hour mark as United sought to shift the game’s dynamics.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6
While he, like many of his teammates, made a few unforced errors, his effort and determination were noteworthy.
He created a significant opportunity by dispossessing Dean Huijsen and assisting Bruno Fernandes, although he also lost possession that led to Bournemouth’s third goal.
Tyrell Malacia – 3
An early poor touch elicited audible reactions from the home crowd, marking the start of a series of careless moments from the returning full-back.
It was almost predictable that he would concede the free-kick from which the visitors scored, and he was substituted at halftime.
Amad Diallo – 7
Took advantage of the Rashford situation and had an opportunity to create a spark at Old Trafford early on, but wasted a good chance by shooting directly at the keeper.
Though it didn’t match his derby performance, he still seemed to be United’s best option for producing a goal.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Now playing in a higher and wider role, sparking a debate about whether this is the most effective deployment of his evident skills.
In the final five minutes of the first half alone, he created three promising chances that could have equalized the score.
Joshua Zirkzee – 5
Given the chance ahead of Rasmus Hojlund due to his recent good form, but this performance was disappointing.
He was closest to Dean Huijsen when the latter scored, although United’s chaotic defending made it unclear if he was truly to blame.
Substitutes
Leny Yoro (for Malacia, 46) – 4
Entered as part of a necessary defensive restructure at halftime by Amorim but failed to provide any added stability.
Alejandro Garnacho (for Ugarte, 54) – 5
Had an opportunity when he found himself clear through just after Bournemouth’s third goal but shot straight at Kepa.
Rasmus Hojlund (for Zirkzee, 54) – 6
Showed signs of being a potential goal scorer, managing to force Kepa into a notable save.
Substitutes (unused): Altay Bayindir, Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, Antony.
