Recently uncovered footage reveals a heated exchange between Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez and Jack Grealish during their intense confrontation in the tunnel.
Grealish made his first return to Villa Park since departing his boyhood club in 2021, as Pep Guardiola aimed to reverse his team’s luck.
Manchester City suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, with goals from Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers.
Tensions escalated before halftime as Grealish expressed frustration over the minimal added time shown.
This led to a confrontation with his former teammate Martinez in the tunnel.
Newly released footage captures Martinez confronting Grealish, stating, “You think you’re a big shot, huh?”
The goalkeeper was shown a yellow card by referee Peter Bankes for his role in the altercation.
Grealish faced continuous boos from Villa supporters, who had previously lauded him prior to his £100 million move to City.
The former Villa captain lost his composure and reacted to the fans by raising three fingers – potentially referring to his Treble-winning season or the titles he’s won.
England football legend Michael Owen defended Grealish on social media, criticizing the fans who booed him.

Owen tweeted: “In football, I encounter numerous things that frustrate me. Most fans probably feel that way at certain times.
“It’s perfectly normal when you are passionate about something, and football has been my lifelong passion.

“Throughout life, you will meet friendly, generous individuals, as well as hostile, envious, and bitter people.
“Your job or background doesn’t determine your character.
“To the Villa fans who booed Jack Grealish yesterday, you fall into the latter category and should be ashamed.”
Grealish dedicated eight years to Villa, scoring 32 goals in 213 appearances.
Since joining City, he has scored 14 goals in 143 matches, and he also possesses a Champions League winners’ medal.
However, this season has been challenging for him amid City’s struggles, as Grealish is yet to score in 18 appearances.
Speculation is rising that he may look for a transfer to regain his form.
