
Johannesburg – Authorities have successfully rescued a kidnapped Pakistani businessman and arrested a 46-year-old woman in Sebokeng, Gauteng.
As per police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, the woman is now facing charges of murder and kidnapping and was taken into custody on Monday, December 23, 2024.
Initial investigations reveal that three men abducted the businessman in a BMW X5 in Lenasia over two months ago.
Following the kidnapping, a ransom was demanded for the victim’s safe return.
Based on information regarding the suspects’ location in Sebokeng, police conducted a thorough investigation.
“A search of the identified area led officers to find the victim confined in one of the rooms,” Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk stated.
She further reported that the body of an unidentified male was found at the location.
“A female suspect was subsequently arrested at the scene,” Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk added.
“The police recovered two mobile phones from the site, which will be crucial for the ongoing investigation; further arrests are expected.”
The detained suspect is due to appear in court shortly.
