
Johannesburg – The police officer who shot a soccer fan from Protea Glen, Soweto, on Boxing Day has been arrested.
After the tragic incident, the officer linked to the Railway Protection and Security Services at Park Station, Johannesburg, was absent from work and has been missing since.

However, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) reported that the fleeing constable was found in Atteridgeville, Tshwane, and was arrested shortly after 17:00 on Friday, (17 December 2024).
According to IPID, the officer facing murder charges is scheduled to appear at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday, (30 December 2024).
“The firearm used in the murder will also be forwarded to the Forensic Laboratory for examination,” IPID noted.
