A DARTS player was quickly rushed to the hospital on Christmas Day after injuring his finger while slicing a ham.
Jermaine Wattimena faced a challenging lead-up to his second-round match against two-time champion Peter Wright.
The Dutch player achieved a significant win by knocking out James Wade in the second round, before taking a momentary break from the oche during Christmas.
Unfortunately, he suffered an accident while preparing ham for his holiday meal, resulting in a cut on his finger.
Wattimena sought medical attention for the injury and was subsequently seen on stage with a bandage covering his injured finger.
Sky Sports commentator Glen Durrant shared insights on Wattimena’s situation, commenting:
“Jermaine Wattimena has endured a challenging few days.
“While enjoying his Christmas dinner, he cut his finger on his non-throwing hand while slicing the ham, which required a hospital visit.”
Wright, his opponent, also faced difficulties in the days leading up to their match.
The 54-year-old spent time resting on his sofa due to illness and had to pause his throws to cough several times.

Despite these challenges, it did not detract from his performance, as he demonstrated his skills, returning to impressive form after a difficult year.
Wright recorded his highest average since capturing the World Darts Championship title in 2022, maintaining control throughout the encounter, even as Wattimena closed the gap to 3-2.
