Limpopo authorities are investigating a potential murder-suicide after discovering the decomposed bodies of a man and woman, believed to be in a relationship, at a home in Northam.
Discovery of Deceased Couple
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the couple, aged 24 and 34, was last seen on Christmas Day around 11:45 p.m. at a nearby tavern. Their remains were found days later, with the woman located in bed and the man hanging from the ceiling.

“While the cause of this tragic incident remains unclear, it is essential not to overlook the possibility of a domestic dispute,” Ledwaba remarked.

Authorities are withholding the identities of the deceased until their families have been notified, although reports indicate that the woman is originally from Lesotho.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Police Commissioner for Limpopo, condemned this incident and urged individuals in troubled relationships to seek professional assistance.
Robbery and Homicide Investigation
In a separate case, three suspects have been charged with the robbery and murder of a 59-year-old man in Sebayeng Township and have appeared before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court.
The incident occurred on July 21, 2024, when the suspects allegedly invaded the victim’s home, assaulted him, and strangled him before stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities believe the victim had recently received a significant cash payment.
Following an extensive investigation, the suspects were arrested on December 18. Their court appearance has been rescheduled to January 3, 2025, for further legal preparations.
