The Placepot wager involves picking a horse to place in the top SIX across the first six races of any event.
Feel free to select multiple horses in a single race – multiply the number of selections for each race to determine your stake. For example, 2x2x2x1x2x2 results in 32 lines.
You can place a stake starting at 5p per line, totaling £1.60. If you choose 10p per line, that would be £3.20, and so forth. As long as at least one selection from each race finishes in a qualifying position, we can expect a payout!

Cheltenham New Year’s Day Placepot tips – Wednesday, January 1
LEG 1: Kalif Du Berlais, Vincenzo, Tedley
In this three-horse race, selecting the winner is crucial for maintaining the Placepot. Since all three contenders are closely matched, it’s wise to include them all in your selections.
LEG 2: Diva Luna
DIVA LUNA delivered an impressive performance by winning the prestigious mares’ bumper at Aintree during the Grand National meeting in April. It was disappointing to see her lose while favored on her hurdles debut at Lingfield last time, as she seemed to run like a horse returning from a break, moving well until fading late. The distance increase appears to be a sensible option, and she earns a 7lb allowance against her competitors today.
LEG 3: Broadway Boy, Cloudy Glen
BROADWAY BOY is due for a well-deserved win this season. He placed a respectable third in a challenging handicap here in October and then ran an outstanding second in the Coral Hennessy at Newbury last time. A 2lb rise for that performance seems generous, especially considering his preference for this trip and track.
CLOUDY GLEN regained his form with a victory at Haydock last month. Now racing off a career-high rating, he continues to represent the successful Venetia Williams stable.
LEG 4: Springwell Bay, Lisnamult Lad
SPRINGWELL BAY has displayed improvement with each of his three chase outings and performed well behind a top-class winner here last time. This distance suits him perfectly, and he has not disappointed at Cheltenham yet, suggesting there’s more to come from what appears to be a fair handicap mark.
LISNAMULT LAD won decisively here in October before falling at Navan last time. He is just 3lb above his last victory and could pose a threat if he can bounce back.
LEG 5: Deep Cave, Catch Him Derry
DEEP CAVE has had only a couple of outings for Christian Williams and showed improvement when finishing fifth here last month. He still had energy at the end and prefers decent ground.
CATCH HIM DERRY underperformed at Haydock, but he could easily bounce back.
LEG 6: Golden Ace, Langer Dan
GOLDEN ACE participated in a tight finish for a Grade 2 at Ascot last month. She won the Dawn Run here last season, demonstrating her affinity for this track while benefiting from a favorable weight allowance against her male rivals.
LANGER DAN is among the most celebrated hurdlers, narrowly missing a victory in a photo finish for a Grade 1 over a similar distance at Aintree in April after his Coral Cup win at the Festival. He showed signs of rust on his return and is expected to perform much better today.
