Cape Town – The struggling Cape Town City football club has revealed a new head coach following Eric Tinkler’s departure earlier this week.
In a statement on X, Cape Town City announced, “We are excited to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as the club’s Technical Director.
“Muhsin brings a wealth of local and international football experience, having recently served as the Technical Advisor for the Turkish national team over the last four years.
“He will step into the head coach role until the end of the current season, joining first-team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.”
Tinkler parted ways with Cape Town City on Tuesday, December 29, 2024, following the team’s fifth loss of the season.
The “final straw” was the recent 0-1 defeat to AmaZulu.
In their announcement of Tinkler’s exit, the club stated: “Cape Town City and head coach Eric Tinkler have mutually agreed to part ways.
“The club expresses its gratitude to Eric for three seasons during which he achieved 2nd, 4th, and 5th place finishes.
“We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
“The club will announce an interim coach soon as we prepare for an exciting new project for the 25/26 season and beyond.”
Meanwhile, Magesi FC, currently at the bottom of the Betway PSL, has named Owen da Gama as their new coach after Clinton Larsen resigned last month (December 2024).
Winners of the Carling Knockout Cup, Magesi finds itself at the bottom of the Betway PSL standings after 10 matches.
