
Authorities in KwaZulu-Natal have detained two brothers in relation to the murder of 32-year-old Shailen Singh, a businessman from Durban, who was fatally shot on Sunday in Umhlanga.
The siblings, a security firm CEO and his sibling, were arrested on New Year’s Day by the provincial organized crime, murder, and robbery unit.

Incident on Meridian Drive
Singh was attacked while driving his Toyota Hilux on Meridian Drive, sustaining gunshot wounds to his head, neck, and abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pradeep Singh, the victim’s father, expressed his grief and confusion over the motives behind the murder, mentioning that his son had received threats in the past but did not recognize the assailants.
Family Mourning the Loss
The young entrepreneur leaves behind a heartbroken wife and a two-month-old son.
“Excessive force was employed,” remarked Singh’s father, emphasizing the emotional turmoil the family is experiencing due to this tragedy.

The police have recovered two vehicles alleged to have been seen fleeing the scene of the crime. The suspects are expected to appear in Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
KZN police spokesperson Lt-Col Robert Netshiunda commended the swift actions of the detectives in apprehending the suspects.
