
Durban – An incident involving a bus has taken place in the Ndwedwe area, situated north of Durban.
As reported by ALS Paramedics, they arrived at the scene of the bus accident in Ndwedwe on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Upon arrival, the bus was discovered overturned on its side.
“At present, reports suggest that several individuals have been injured, and multiple ambulances are on-site,” stated ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson.
“Communication has become challenging due to the absence of a cellphone network in the area.”
In response to the incident, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma commented: “One person has sadly lost their life, and 30 others have been injured as a result of a bus accident involving members of the Nazaretha Baptist Church (Shembe Church).”
The MEC indicated that a report from the Road Traffic Inspectorate showed that the bus had caught fire.
The accident occurred on P100 in Ndwedwe.
“MEC Duma has instructed a specialized team to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” announced the spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Human Settlements, Ndabezinhle Sibiya.
“He also conveyed his condolences to the family of the deceased.”
