Johannesburg – Celebrated music icon Winnie Khumalo has sadly passed away at the age of 51 following a reported brief illness.
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, a statement was issued announcing the tragic news: “It is with deep sadness that Kalwa Jazmee Records confirms the passing of Winnie Khumalo.”
The statement, which did not disclose the cause of her death, went on to say: “A remarkable figure, Winnie Khumalo made profound contributions to the South African music scene, uplifting countless fans with her powerful voice and unforgettable performances.”
Nonetheless, various media sources reported that she lost her battle against a short illness.
The statement also noted: “Her passion, artistry, and dedication to her craft have made a lasting impression on the industry and in the hearts of her fans.”
“Our sincere condolences go out to her family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
“Rest in peace, Winnie Khumalo.”
