DARREN FERGUSON has responded to criticism from an Everton player regarding his choice to exclude Tyler Young from the matchday squad.
The son of Sir Alex Ferguson experienced his team being eliminated from the FA Cup in their Thursday night match at Goodison Park.
Beto netted the opener for the Toffees in the first half, followed by Iliman Ndiaye sealing the win with a late penalty.
Fans were eager to see Young, 18, take to the field against his father and Everton defender Ashley Young, 39.
Ultimately, Tyler stayed on the bench, preventing a remarkable moment from happening.
In the 154-year history of the FA Cup, there hasn’t been a father-son matchup in any match.
After the loss, Ferguson shared that putting Tyler on the field wasn’t the best move for the squad.
He mentioned that an Everton player made an inappropriate comment directed at him for not playing the young talent.
He explained: “It was challenging to leave Tyler on the bench, but I have to put the team’s needs first.
“While I wanted Tyler to play, if the score were 2-0 at that point, I would have brought him in, but since it was 1-0, I opted for a forward instead.”

“I must do everything in my power to get a positive outcome and help my team.
“One of their players made an inappropriate remark towards me.”
Sean Dyche was SACKED by Everton just hours before the FA Cup match as two club legends took charge, and David Moyes is considered to replace him
“We are not a charity case.”
The choice to leave Tyler out was anticipated, considering he had only made one professional appearance before this match.
His only experience was as a substitute in the EFL Trophy game against Stevenage last October.
In the meantime, Sean Dyche did not coach the team due to his dismissal earlier that day.
Without him, Seamus Coleman and club legend Leighton Baines took charge of the match.
The pair faced challenges, including an injury to Armando Broja, who was removed from the game on a stretcher after an unfortunate fall that visibly impacted him.
Speculation about Dyche’s successor has already mentioned names like former manager David Moyes and ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho for the position.
