EDDIE HEARN has expressed skepticism about Tyson Fury’s boxing retirement, offering a sly grin and a theory indicating that the situation might not be as straightforward as it appears.
Fury recently stunned fans with a retirement post on social media after his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
However, with a potential major bout against Anthony Joshua still looming, Hearn suspects that this issimply a negotiation tactic.
In a recent interview on iFL TV, he remarked: “I expected this. If you’re looking to come back and maximize your earnings, announcing retirement first is a smart move, right?
“At some stage, someone has to entice you back into the ring. So, if Tyson Fury’s retirement is indeed final, I wish him the best.
“Yet, I personally have my doubts and respect any choice he makes.”
Fury has a history of announcing retirements only to return – having done so three times previously.
Still, he mentioned in a recent video: “Hello everyone, I’ll keep this brief.
“I’m announcing my retirement from boxing. It has been an incredible journey, and I have cherished every moment.
“I’ll leave you with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, and see you on the other side.”

At 36, Fury lost his WBC title and his undefeated status to Usyk, 37, who made history as the first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion.
Afterward, the Ukrainian relinquished the IBF title to focus on his rematch, which he successfully won by unanimous decision in December.

In the meantime, Joshua, 35, faced a knockout defeat to Dubois, 27, in September, missing out on the IBF championship.
This turn of events has brought AJ and Fury closer to potentially clashing in a highly awaited British showdown.
Hearn speculates that the combination of financial incentives and a sense of monotony will eventually draw the charismatic Gypsy King back into the ring.
He remarked: “I believe he will be eager to fight again.
“I think he’ll eventually grow bored and acknowledge that the British public is eager for the AJ fight, so, in my view, we are likely to see him back in action. If not, then once again, best of luck to him.”
