Mamelodi Sundowns’ Iqraam Rayners, coach Miguel Cardoso, and Kaizer Chiefs’ striker Mdu Shabalala have been recognized for their performance in November and December in the Betway Premiership.
Rayners earned the Player of the Month title, while Cardoso, who joined the team in early December, was awarded the Coach of the Month honor.
Shabalala made an impression by scoring a stunning solo goal against Chippa United last month at Moses Mabhida Stadium. He expertly gathered the ball from a wide position, maneuvered around four defenders from the Chilli Boys, and struck a shot into the near post, overcoming Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

An official statement from the PSL noted, “Cardoso earned the Betway Premiership Coach of the Month award for his outstanding leadership with Mamelodi Sundowns, guiding the team to three victories — over Stellenbosch FC, AmaZulu FC, and Richards Bay FC, thus securing a total of nine points.”
“Iqraam Rayners was recognized as the Betway Premiership Player of the Month after narrowly surpassing strong contenders Relebohile Mofokeng and Hendrick Ekstein.”
“The Betway Premiership Goal of the Month was awarded to Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala for his remarkable solo goal against Chippa United on December 29th in Durban.”
“Shabalala’s goal stood out among formidable challengers like Thalente Mbatha and Relebohile Mofokeng, who both delivered stellar performances against Marumo Gallants and Magesi FC, respectively.”
“With support from Betway, the Betway Premiership plans to launch a series of exciting fan engagement activities in the upcoming months, particularly focusing on the regional derbies.”
“As these Betway Premiership derbies approach, fans across the nation can look forward to opportunities to interact with some of the league’s legends (the Betway Squad) in various cities, offering direct engagement and chances to win exciting Betway prizes.”
Pirates coach Jose Riveiro and Sundowns’ Lucas Ribeiro Costa were the first recipients of the Coach and Player of the Month awards for September and October, with Fawaaz Basadien taking home the Goal of the Month award.
