The Lamontville Golden Arrows have sent young forward Samkelo Mlaba on loan to Hungry Lions, who participate in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, for the remainder of the season.
At 21 years old, Mlaba, who is yet to make his senior debut for Arrows, is anticipated to gain vital playing time with the Kimberly-based squad. Arrows consider Mlaba a significant asset, especially as he is the leading performer in their DStv Diski Challenge team.
With a strong roster in the attacking department, Mlaba has encountered limited chances in the first team. This loan opportunity will grant him essential match experience.
Recently, a positive partnership has been formed between Arrows and Hungry Lions. The Durban-based club has previously recruited talents such as Olwethu Ncube and Angelo van Rooi from Hungry Lions at the beginning of last season.
Mlaba leaves Arrows during a successful campaign, as they are currently in fifth place in the Betway Premiership, accumulating 18 points from 12 matches. On the other hand, Hungry Lions sit 10th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with 19 points after 15 games.
Mlaba is expected to make his debut for Hungry Lions against Baroka FC at the Global Stadium this Sunday at 15:30, pending the completion of all necessary formalities.
