Zuko Mdunyelwa, the defender for Mamelodi Sundowns, has highlighted the team’s commitment to winning the CAF Champions League title, defending their Betway Premiership championship, and succeeding in the Nedbank Cup for a remarkable season.
The Tshwane giants have faced challenges this season, having missed out on both the MTN 8 and the Carling Knockout under coach Manqoba Mngqithi.
Nevertheless, the reigning league champions still have opportunities in the Champions League, the Betway Premiership, and the Nedbank Cup.
“We must not dwell on past results; our focus should be on what lies ahead,” Mdunyelwa emphasized.
“We remain contenders for the league title, the Champions League, and the Nedbank Cup. Our aim is to secure victories in all remaining competitions to ensure a successful season.”
The Brazilians are currently in second place in Group B of the Champions League, while they lead the league standings with 30 points. In the Nedbank Cup, Sundowns are set to compete against Sibanye Golden Stars in the Last 32 round.
Additionally, the former Chippa United defender expressed his disappointment regarding the loss in the Carling Knockout final.
“It was certainly disheartening to come up short in a final; as players, we carry dreams and aspirations. When we reach a final, we should seize the chance to secure a win,” Mdunyelwa remarked.
“As we look towards the Nedbank Cup draw, we feel confident about advancing against the team we’ve been paired with, even if we currently lack in-depth knowledge about them.
“However, our coaching staff will prepare us thoroughly for the match by analyzing their strengths and weaknesses.”
This Saturday afternoon, the Brazilians will host FAR Rabat at Loftus Stadium, where a draw will suffice for them to progress to the knockout stages.
