Orlando Pirates are exploring the possibility of loaning Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo to Marumo Gallants.
This move could be a tactical choice for Pirates, particularly as Ndlondlo’s contract is nearing its end at the close of the season, which decreases the likelihood of his continued stay with the club.
Throughout this season, Ndlondlo has had limited opportunities to play, amassing just 14 minutes in the league and 90 minutes during the initial rounds of the CAF Champions League.
His league time came in a game against AmaZulu in October, right after he was substituted in, when Mohau Nkota netted two goals at Orlando Stadium.
He faces tough competition in the midfield, with coach Jose Riveiro favoring players like Thalente Mbatha, Kabelo Dlamini, and Makhehleni Makhaula this season.
Head coach Riveiro also has other midfield alternatives like Miguel Timm, Azola Tsheobeni, and Goodman Mosele, all of whom have faced challenges in securing regular playing time this season.
At 29, Ndlondlo joined Pirates from Gallants ahead of the 2022/23 season, alongside Timm and Katlego Otladisa.
Prior to his stint with Pirates, Ndlondlo was instrumental for Gallants, notably scoring a vital goal during their Nedbank Cup victory when they were known as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, under coach Dylan Kerr in the 2020/21 season against Chippa United.
In the subsequent season, he assisted Gallants in reaching another Nedbank Cup final under current coach Dan Malesela, although they were ultimately defeated by Mamelodi Sundowns.
Since his arrival at Pirates two and a half seasons ago, Ndlondlo has celebrated two more Nedbank Cup successes and three MTN8 titles with the Soweto Giants.
As of now, he has made 54 appearances across all competitions, netting three goals and providing three assists for the team.
