
Johannesburg – The music industry is grieving the loss of singer Yolanda “Yallunder” Nyambezi, who has sadly passed away after a prolonged struggle with illness.
In a statement released on Friday, (14 March 2025), the Nyembezi family conveyed their heartfelt sorrow: “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Yolanda Nyembezi, fondly known as Yallunder to many.”
The family reflected on her as “a truly unique spirit with a voice of remarkable depth,” adding: “Yolanda brought light to the world with a warmth and strength that was truly inspiring.”
Born on 23 August 1994 in Bizana, Eastern Cape, she was not just a gifted singer and songwriter, but also graduated cum laude in voice pedagogy, demonstrating a fervent dedication to her craft that matched her exceptional talent.
“Yolanda fought her illness with bravery for months, clinging to life with resilience and grace until her last moments on Thursday, (13 March 2025), at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital,” her family shared.
“Her journey showcased immense strength, and even in her most vulnerable moments, she embodied love, kindness, and artistry.”
“Her passing has left an incredible void in our lives, but we find comfort in the knowledge that her music, her legacy, and the love she shared will live on eternally.”
The distinguished singer-songwriter, known for her collaborations with artists like Black Coffee, Kelvin Momo, and Sjava, died at the tender age of 30.
