Ashley also filed a claim for £1.5 million against the St James’ Park club.
His stores have been barred from selling this season’s kits, forcing supporters to purchase them exclusively from the club’s official store, adidas, or JD Sports.
The financial losses from this ban are expected to grow substantially following the club’s Carabao Cup victory this past weekend.
Newcastle’s win signifies the end of a 70-year wait for a trophy, which is likely to drive a surge in demand for these commemorative kits.
Recent financial reports have indicated that the club was “confident of success in the legal case.”
However, Newcastle, adidas, and JD Sports have now come to a confidential agreement with Ashley and Sports Direct.
This arrangement, referred to as a ‘Tomlin Order’, is legally enforceable if either party fails to comply with its conditions.
Legal counsel for Sports Direct contended that excluding the “home of football supplies” from selling affordable jerseys would negatively impact fans.
