Johannesburg – Around 70,000 white South Africans, many of whom are parents, have shown interest in moving to the United States as refugees.
The concerned individuals registered their intent following U.S. President Donald Trump’s Executive Order issued on February 7, 2025, which provides Afrikaners with refugee status and facilitates their resettlement in the U.S.
The South African Chamber of Commerce in the U.S.A. (SACCUSA), a supporter of this initiative, reported that it has submitted information regarding 67,042 South Africans interested in the “resettlement opportunity” offered by President Trump to the U.S. embassy in Pretoria.
SACCUSA forwarded this data to the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, and requested that “these South Africans be prioritized and kept regularly informed about their resettlement process.”
To ensure that all parties receive accurate and official guidance from the relevant U.S. government authorities, SACCUSA announced that it has directed all inquiries regarding the Executive Order to the U.S. Embassy in South Africa.
The Embassy has created a dedicated email address for this purpose:

SACCUSA highlighted that this transition allows it to focus on its core functions while ensuring that the public receives guidance directly from U.S. government officials.
SACCUSA will continue to update South Africans through its newsletter.
SACCUSA stressed that “this effort” aligns with its mission to support the South African business community and diaspora in the U.S. in a non-political capacity, while fostering binational trade, investment, and tourism between South Africa and the U.S.
SACCUSA remains strongly supportive of the Trump Administration’s efforts to resettle South Africans wishing to relocate to the U.S.
“As a vibrant and resilient community, the South African diaspora in the U.S. eagerly looks forward to welcoming and assisting the newcomers, especially those granted refugee status,” SACCUSA stated.
“In light of recent developments, SACCUSA is committed to promoting constructive dialogue between the U.S. and South Africa through economic and cultural diplomacy.”
“These initiatives are essential for maintaining strong trade relations and ensuring the well-being of South Africans seeking to build new lives in the United States.”
SACCUSA encourages anyone seeking further information on the resettlement process or related inquiries to reach out through the U.S. Embassy’s designated communication channel.
SACCUSA also urges all interested parties to utilize this official resource for guidance.
