Raymond Mdaka, the head coach of the South African U20 national football team, has emphasized the vital contribution of video analysts in the team’s preparations for the upcoming U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
Mdaka commended the team’s video analyst, Thabo Mnyamane, a former midfielder with SuperSport United, for his exceptional impact on both training sessions and match-day tactics.
Mnyamane, who also works as a video analyst for Sekhukhune United’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team, has played a crucial role in assisting the technical staff and players in analyzing and enhancing their performance with Amajita.
“In modern football, analysts are essential for the team as they provide support to both the technical team and the players,” Mdaka commented.
“They aid us in training and are indispensable on match days. We are extremely pleased with our analyst, as their assistance has been remarkable.”

As Amajita gears up for the U20 AFCON tournament, Mdaka shared his optimism about their preparedness.
“The preparations are progressing well as we have been consistently working with the boys and monitoring their growth since the squad selection,” he noted.
Mdaka also acknowledged that the team is conscious of the challenges they may encounter in the tournament and is strategically preparing for them.
“In general, I would say the preparations are going well; we know our opponents and what to expect. The emphasis is on how effectively we plan for various situations that may arise.”
The U20 AFCON is scheduled to take place in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, where Amajita will face tough opponents, including the host nation Egypt, as well as Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Zambia.
Thanks to Mnyamane’s skills as a video analyst, the team is well-prepared to evaluate and enhance their performance.
