The DHL Stormers have officially announced that veteran player Deon Fourie has signed a one-year contract extension, allowing him to participate from the beginning of the upcoming season.
The adaptable forward currently holds 132 caps with the DHL Stormers, ranking him fourth in the club’s history. He trails only behind Steven Kitshoff (138), Frans Malherbe (152), and Brok Harris (170) in total appearances.
Although he recently faced a leg injury during the Vodacom United Rugby Championship win against Connacht, Fourie is expected to make a full recovery in time for the season start. He is ready to significantly bolster the scrum once again.
Director of Rugby John Dobson praised Fourie for his typical resolve and determination in overcoming this recent challenge.
“Deon is a true warrior and will remain an essential asset for us in the upcoming season, both on the pitch and as a leader,” he remarked.

“He is an outstanding player who has greatly contributed to this team over the years, and we are confident that he will return with his customary dedication next season,” Dobson further stated.
Fourie shared his disappointment about missing key moments in the current season, yet expressed his enthusiasm to fully contribute in the next season.
“Injuries are a part of the game, and thankfully, this one wasn’t as severe as it could have been. I’ll be backing the team as they approach the playoffs and will focus on my recovery to make a strong return next season,” noted Fourie, who chipped in as hooker during the 2023 World Cup final against New Zealand after Bongi Mbonambi suffered a significant knee injury.
“Wearing this team’s jersey means the world to me, and I promise to give my all and make the most of every chance to represent this team next season,” he concluded.
