AARON RAMSEY has officially departed from Cardiff, setting the stage for an unforeseen transfer to Mexico.
The 34-year-old captain of Wales is reported to be on the verge of joining Club Universidad Nacional, commonly known as Pumas UNAM, after deciding against extending his contract for another year.

After Omer Riza’s departure, Ramsey took over as interim manager for Cardiff during the last three Championship matches of the previous season but couldn’t prevent the team from being relegated to League One.
Cardiff, likely to appoint Brian Barry-Murphy, 46, former assistant coach at Leicester, has commented on Ramsey’s exit: “Aaron will be leaving the Bluebirds this summer.”

“The Welsh captain returned to his boyhood club in the summer of 2023 and served as caretaker manager for the final matches of the 2024/25 season. Aaron departs the Cardiff City Stadium with our best wishes,” the club added.
Despite struggling with injuries in his second tenure at Cardiff, which saw him start only 15 matches over two years, the former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder is eager to prolong his playing career and is determined to lead Wales in the 2026 World Cup next summer, provided they qualify.
Craig Bellamy’s squad recently suffered a 4-3 defeat against Belgium in Brussels on Monday night, leaving them in second place in Group J as they head into the autumn season.
