Injured Usyk Spotted Disco-Dancing After Securing 90-Day Extension for Fight Negotiations – Opponent Responds Graciously

OLEKSANDR USYK has been granted a 90-day sick leave to postpone his world title defense against Joseph Parker, despite being recently spotted dancing energetically.

After his win against Daniel Dubois at Wembley in July, the 38-year-old undisputed heavyweight champion was given 30 days to negotiate with the WBO’s mandatory challenger from New Zealand.

However, the southpaw star has notified the sanctioning body about a lingering back issue and requires additional time for recovery.

The World Boxing Organisation has approved the three-month extension, even after videos surfaced showing the charismatic left-hander displaying his dance moves on stage.

Meanwhile, the composed Parker, who recently celebrated a commendable series of victories against Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang, and Martin Bakole, is gearing up for a match against Ipswich’s own Fabio Wardley on October 25 at the O2.

The New Zealander shared with SunSport: “He’s earned the chance to unwind.”

“He deserves some time to relax and enjoy with his family.”

“He’s been busy with the two Tyson Fury fights and then Dubois.”

“I haven’t fought as often, so it’s my turn to secure match-ups and stay active.”

“The more time you spend in the ring, the more you improve.”

Parker was scheduled to face Dubois for the red IBF title last February, but Dubois pulled out at the last moment due to health concerns.

As a result, an unfit Martin Bakole was brought in from Congo and was knocked out in just two rounds.

Instead of rescheduling the Dubois fight, the 27-year-old Brit earned an undisputed shot at Usyk while Parker remained on the sidelines.

Parker reflected: “It was a world championship fight, and it was taken from me just days before it was set to happen.”

“At that time, we had to find anyone to fight; it didn’t matter who.”

“I trained hard and couldn’t turn down the opportunity, so I simply went out and did my thing.”
