Sharks Elevate Their Season in Tribute to George

This Friday, the Hollywoodbets Sharks will head to George to face the DHL Stormers at Outeniqua Park Rugby Stadium in a pre-season friendly match, just two weeks before the Vodacom United Rugby Championship kicks off.

Hollywoodbets Sharks head coach John Plumtree has announced a 28-man squad for the trip to the Garden Route city, which largely resembles the lineup from last Friday’s double-header at Hollywoodbets Kings Park.

Prop Ruan Dreyer is set to make his first start of the season, while Junior Bok talent Bathobele Hlekani continues at lock, having been named in that position last week.

The team features a wealth of experience, with eighthman Vincent Tshituka leading the squad and Lukhanyo Am serving as vice-captain.

Among the substitutes, standout players include Ross Braude, a Canadian scrumhalf hailing from Bloemfontein, who attended Grey College and represented the Vodacom Blue Bulls at youth level before moving on to play senior rugby in Canada and for the Airlink Pumas in this season’s Carling Currie Cup.

Edwill van der Merwe, who recently played for the Springboks against the Wallabies last month, is also included in the squad.

With the Springboks participating in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship, Plumtree has the option to call up several Carling Currie Cup players, ensuring that supporters of the Hollywoodbets Sharks will likely recognize many faces in this match.

The match is set to kick off at 18h00.
