Pretoria – Law enforcement officials have arrested two individuals suspected of being involved in the murder of five patrollers at the Marry Me informal settlement in Soshanguve.
Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Singo, the spokesperson for the Hawks, reported that the suspects, aged between 27 and 50, were apprehended on Monday, 24 March 2025, by a specialized team of law enforcement members.
This team included personnel from the Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Section in Pretoria, the Tshwane K9 Unit, Akasia Crime Prevention, Tshwane Akasia Crime Intelligence, Public Order Policing Pretoria, Tshwane District Serious Violent Crime, and the Pretoria North Local Criminal Record Centre.
Detailing the events leading up to the arrests, Lieutenant Colonel Singo stated: “On 24 March 2025, the Tactical Operations Management Section received intelligence regarding a group of suspects believed to be responsible for several murders and attempted murders in Soshanguve (Marry Me informal settlement).”
The tragic events occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 22 March 2025.

“Following up on the intelligence, police located the first suspect in Soshanguve Extension 20,” Lieutenant Colonel Singo noted.
“Upon reaching the location, the police confiscated a 9MM Girsan firearm along with ammunition, with serial numbers obliterated.
“They then proceeded to another site in Soshanguve Extension 6, resulting in the arrest of the second suspect.
“During this apprehension, the suspect was found in possession of a 9MM CZ firearm and ammunition, with its serial number also removed.”
Lieutenant Colonel Singo stated that the suspects were allegedly involved in murders and house robberies that took place on Friday, 21 February 2025.
Both suspects are set to appear before the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Wednesday, 26 March 2025, facing charges that include murder, attempted murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
“The firearms will undergo ballistic analysis to see if they are linked to other serious crimes in Gauteng,” Lieutenant Colonel Singo explained.
